Academic careers in STEM can feel opaque, even to those best placed to pursue them. The Royal Society wanted to change that with a new interactive career roadmap.

A Royal Society report into representation in STEM, examining trends in the proportion of BAME students and staff across the sector, concluded that far greater transparency was needed. The research findings pointed to a clear opportunity: make the landscape of STEM careers more visible, more navigable, and more inviting to those who might otherwise not see a route in.

Fluid and accessible user experience

We designed and developed an interactive career exploration experience, built around a seamless interface that allows users to move fluidly between different roles and pathways without reloading content or losing their place.

Custom illustrations give the tool warmth and accessibility, balancing the informational weight of the content without undermining it. The result is a resource that meets users' personal circumstances, whether they're a student exploring options or an early-career researcher mapping their next career move.
