Tracking the real cost of recruitment

The Impactt Ethical Recruitment Atlas is the first freely-accessible platform that brings together data on the real human cost of predatory recruitment fees paid by migrant workers.

Impactt aimed to raise awareness of migrant recruitment worker fees, to help eliminate force labour and debt bondage. We were happy to use our data visualisation and development skills to shine a light on such important subject matter.

Bringing clarity to complex data

The Atlas brings together anonymised testimony from over 6,000 individual workers, plotting it on a map with filterable and explorable data points, and the real words of the workers.

With such a large dataset, it can be easy to lose sight of headline figures. Our design focused on making the headline takeaways immediate and obvious - making the tool simple enough for casual users, whilst still allowing the deeper, more granular data points to be revealed by the curious.

A successful result

The Atlas has been extremely well-received, as the first initiative to make this important research freely and publicly accessible to all.
