Data storytelling for Africa’s future
We work on a wide range of animations, from simple to complex, but this one was a little different, as it needed to capture the imagination and hold the attention of a very unique audience.
The Africa Human Capital Heads of State Summit brought together heads of state, leaders and policymakers to confront a stark reality: the region had entered the last decade with the lowest Human Capital Index of any region in the world. The World Bank needed a poignant and powerful animation sequence to communicate the urgency and complexity of the challenge — clearly, compellingly, and in a matter of minutes.
Data-responsive animation
We produced a data-driven animation played ahead of the keynote speaker on the closing day of the summit.
Built around three core themes, the sequence uses data visualisation and emotive storytelling to emphasise and clarify key statistics for an audience that needed to feel the data's significance.
A successful result
The animation played to an audience of Heads of State and senior leaders at one of Africa's most significant gatherings on human capital development in years.
The animation opened the summit's final day and set the tone for the policy discussions that followed, being well liked by all delegates.
