The Economist
Data that works for a global audience
The Economist Group's research reaches some of the world's most influential organisations. Getting that research in front of them was one key challenge; making it genuinely useful and engaging was another.
The Economist Intelligence Unit produces a diverse range of research outputs (survey data, ranking indices, country-specific performance metrics), each with its own structure, audience, and purpose. The brief, across a long-standing partnership, has been consistent - take complex, varied datasets and turn them into experiences that inform, educate and engage at the highest level.
The right tools
Soak has developed a wide range of custom data tools and visualisation solutions for the EIU, serving some of the world's most recognised brands.
For survey-based research, we've designed highly customised benchmarking tools that allow users to respond to key questions and instantly compare their position against peer opinion across a range of demographic indicators. Index and ranking data use more complex visualisation mechanisms that support manipulation and detailed profiling, giving users genuine analytical control over the data rather than a fixed view.
Many successful results
A body of work spanning multiple research formats and client sectors, underpinning some of the EIU's most significant data-driven publications and tools.
Across every project, the challenge is the same - imagination and technical depth combining to make complex information as interesting and consumable as possible.
