Redefining global indices

For over thirty years, the IMD World Competitiveness Centre has shaped how nations and enterprises understand their position in the global economy. The data underpinning that research deserved a platform equal to its reputation.

IMD's global indices are scrutinised by business executives, policymakers, government organisations, and prominent academic institutions worldwide. The previous presentation of data didn't adequately reflect the depth and sophistication of the research on offer. As audiences engage with information through a multitude of devices and formats, ensuring both accessibility and clarity has become crucial for effective data communications.

Interactive and explorable data

Soak has revamped IMD's flagship indices into an interactive experience that lets users explore competitiveness data across multiple variables.

The ranking views now feature map-based and grid layouts, detailed country profiles, and a custom comparison tool with customisable chart options. This integration was delivered as a CMS plugin, enabling IMD's team to manage content effectively and extend the framework to other indices on the site.

A successful result

Following the success of the initial engagement, Soak went on to design and develop three further IMD indices: the Smart City Index, the Future Readiness Indicator, and the Sustainable Trade Index.

A body of work that now sits at the heart of how one of the world's most respected business institutions presents its research to a global audience.
