TotalJobs
Social mobility, brought to life
Research into social mobility is important. But a dataset, however robust, only travels as far as the experience of those reading it. TotalJobs needed theirs to reach the widest possible audience.
TotalJobs had conducted a substantive Social Mobility Research Study — the kind of work that deserves visibility, engagement and a lasting impact. The key challenge for us was translating a complex body of findings into an interactive experience that people would actually engage with, share, and remember.
Engaging and fluid experience
Soak developed a narrative-driven, scrollable data visualisation — a scrollytelling experience that guides users through the research at their own pace.
Rather than presenting the dataset in full and leaving readers to draw their own conclusions, the format surfaces key findings progressively, weaving important data metrics into the broader story as it unfolds.
A successful result
The result strikes a balance between rigour and readability: the numbers are present but grounded in a real-world context that gives them meaning.
This work transformed a research study into an engaging, shareable experience, ensuring that TotalJobs' findings on social mobility reached the audience they deserved.
